When we are talking about food photography we must give importance to the background. It plays a very important role. So choose for colourful and clean backgrounds. One most important thing to consider is when the color of your food is dark go for lighter background and when it is light choose the deeper one’s.

While giving shapes to the food items we must review how it will look when it is photographed, like giving a round shape to a sandwich will not work, so go for a star shaped sandwich and see the difference.

The holder or the container of the food that is shot must be a cleaned and well designed one. There are various shapes available in market like square shapes bowls, flower shaped bowls etc .

Colours play the best role in photography, and use of more colors make it more attractive but be sure you are not using excessive amount of colours. For example in Salads use 4-5 colors ,if it is a fruit salad you can add kiwi(green), red apple(red), berries(blue) , peaches(yellow) and banana(white).
